Chief Scientist Statement Science of Climate” – Professor Ian William Chubb, Australia’s Chief Scientist, released a statement discussing the science behind climate change and urging global leaders to strive for net zero emissions by 2100. Professor Ian Chubb commenced the position of Australia’s Chief Scientist in May 2011. As the Chief Scientist, he provides high-level independent advice to the Prime Minister and other Ministers on matters relating to science, technology and innovation. They also identify challenges and opportunities for Australia that can be addressed, in part, through science. Prior to this appointment, he was Vice-Chancellor of the Australian National University from January 2001 to February 2011.
